Today, during a power yoga session, my instructor shared a thought-provoking insight: "Yoga is not a workout, but a work-in." This idea resonated deeply with me, reflecting on how strength isn’t merely external but also born from within—unique to each individual.
This concept beautifully parallels the art of singing. Often in vocal performance, true strength is confused with muscular tension. When our bodies lack strength, they compensate by tensing up whatever they can. However, tension is not strength.
Singing with tension is, in essence, working against your body rather than with it.
Achieving harmony with one’s body while singing is no easy feat. It demands attention, patience, and consistent practice. This realization has become so fundamental to my own vocal practice that I've decided to deepen my understanding by enrolling in the Somatic Academy in Berlin.
Invitation to Explore Somatic Approaches
Starting in February, I will be hosting sessions that adopt a somatic approach to learning. These sessions will focus on gentle and mindful engagement with the body, movement, breath, and, naturally, sound.
Together, we will explore the inner strength that allows the voice to sound freely and naturally. This journey is about discovering that your voice, your strength, and your body are all interconnected and already present within you.
Your voice is your power, and your body is the vessel that carries this power. Everything you need is already inside you. Join me to unlock these inner strengths and transform the way you express yourself through your voice.
